S.L.E.U.T.H.
This week, in Humanities LEAP, we started a new activity called Sleuth. Sleuth is an activity where we act like detectives and are given clues about a book. Then, we need to figure out which book it is. Next, we have a job to do that is related to the book and see if the given teacher approves it. The jobs that we were given could be a hands on craft, or a puzzle or code that we have to solve. Each clue had a teacher that had to sign our group’s packet to give us permission to move on. This week, we formed our groups and started this game that is a huge race. It was amazingly splendidly!

Art Show!!!
This week the art show is going on for our school. We all picked two artworks to enter for the whole school to see. We had a choice between an optical illusion, a clay cake, or our yearbook cover. Our artwork is set up all over the gym and in the commons. We worked so hard all year to create our artworks so they are ready to be presented at the art show! By: MP, AH, LS, and MB
Experience of History Mystery
This year during history mystery we did a lot of exhilarating things. We learned a lot of new things about history and we got to share all of our background knowledge (bk). We started our very first mystery in October 8th, 2013. Our mysteries included a person and an artifact. Some artifacts were the key, horn, and etc. Some of the people were Xu Ming, Joya Gonzalas, and Jack Shaw. Our last history mystery was a blast!!! It happened on April 15th 2014. Through these mysteries we had lots of fun. I hope next years 5th grades have the same fun! By: EC, IK, DW.
Weathering Facts
Weathering is what causes landforms. Because of erosion Mount Rushmore will lose its faces. Erosion affects farmers everyday around the world. Erosion made Canyons and and so many more landforms. Erosion is caused by years of rain and wind eroding rocks. Seasons are different parts of the year that has different weather. Like Winter has snow. Summer has hot moist weather a lot of rain though. Spring is similar but a little colder. Fall is when it rains and the leaves change color. By: SG, AP, BM, JR
Objects For Writing
On Wednesday, Mrs. Caplin started our mini lesson over writing by asking us to write down 5 things to tell where or what we did on Spring Break. Our teacher then shared her seashells with us that she collected from Charleston, South Carolina. Mrs. Caplin also told us that we needed to pick one item from our list that would remind us of our Spring Break memory. Then we had to web out our favorite item. We had to describe the different features of our 1 object we chose. Once we did that, we shared some with the class. Then Mrs. Caplin told us that we needed to get a object from our house for next week to write about that object. Everybody is super psyched about next week for our writing. By: E.T., L.M. E.H.
